Applications of UV lasers

Home → Applications of UV lasers

Laser technologies are spread next after IT in industrial processes. And also there is a trend of shortening of wavelength used. This comes from technological processes quality and speed improvement demand. Also compactness and price of devices are important.

At the present time UV lasers are widely used in science and industry. Main applications are research, mass-spectrometry, medicine, biology, atmosphere control and lithography.

Ecology. Lasers of Ultraviolet Solutions company are answering demands for emitters for LIDAR devices, stationery and portable. As it is not a nonlinear conversion we can easely form needed beam and emission parameters, and then amplify the pulse. Tuning in UV spectral range gives an opportunity to detect over 50 different compounds.

Mass-spectrometry – a method of material investigation by determining mass to charge ratio (quality) and the number of charged particles produced in a certain influence on the substance. MALDI and MALDI-TOF branches actively use UV lasers for desorption and ionization of investigated substance.

Dermatology and oncology. The use of new lasers can provide high destruction efficiency of diseased cells, while, in contrast to traditional media, excluded negative side effects. This is due wavelength tuning and short pulse duration (from 10 nsec to 100 psec), in other words precise adjusting of influence parameters.

Laser spectroscopy. A unique laser source with tunable wavelength and opportunity to form beam and pulse parameters in wide ranges.
